The values which we learn in childhood to a large extent influence our later life. I learned my values in my family hause. My parents, especially my dad, taught me how to live. I grew up in times when in my country people fought for freedom. School of my life it was just life.
The most importat value is Love. We need Love for own family and ourselves. Faith is another importat value. Parents should teach children their religion because religion is included in the whole meaning of life. Traditios which we learned from our parents pass to our children. This value is also importat. We should teach respect for the elderly. If the child repect others, they will show respect for their parents.
Is not easy to teach a child all these values which are important in life. However, those values which we were taught in childhood affect our actions in adult life. My dad always told me, "You live so that other people do't cry because of you". I am trying to live so that I don't cause anyone harm. This is one of the values which I learned from home.

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE MOST ?
There are many famous people who we admire. I would like to introduce the person who I admire most. This person is my sister Dorota. She is much younger than I, but she is more prudent and smarter than I.
She unlike me thinks seriously about life. She has a family, children and devotes all her time to them. She is the usual woman and unsual mother. She doesn't have much many but she is able to manage so that there is enought for everything. This is especially difficult with her husband being unemployed, with her working as a homemaker. I admire her for her self sacrifice for the family and upbringing of her children.
When I look at my sister, I see how hard it is to be housewife.

MY AMERICAN DREAM
My name is Maria. I'm from Poland and I've been living in Milwaukee since 2007. I came to the United States because in my homeland there are the heavy conditions of life and there is no future for me. Everyone arrived here with some dreams. My American dream is to have a job and better conditionc in life. After I came here my life has changed for the better. I go to school and I learn English.I also work part-time.
My long-term goal to improve my English. After that I will look for a better job with a higer solary. If I have money I can help my family in my country. I will try to achieve my American dream by learning the English language at MATC and by carefully performing my duties at work. I wont to show that I'm a good worker. I want to change something in my life.

POVERTY
Poverty is the lack of basic human needs. Povetry is a problem not only for poor countries, but for rich countries as well. It is close to us. Helping poor people in getting jobs helps them get out of povetry. Another important issue is education. Teaching poor children gives them the chance of a better life in the future. Trying to improve the lives of poor people in our community affects the existence of our entire society.

My Ideal Job
My ideal job is being a travel guide who conducts tours. Traveling was always my passion which I attempted to realize. I visited many countries in Europe. I have always been intrested in the culture and history of other countries. I'm a sociable person, who quickly makes contact with other people. Traveling with people and giving them knowledge about the place and its history is what I would like to do. Giving guided tours would connect my employment and my passion.

My Favorite Food
I'm from Poland. In my country we have a lot of intresting dishes. My favorite dish are the Pierogi. In the Polish Kitchen Pierogi is a dish usually served during the week and on special occasions. One special occasion is Christmas, where we served them on Christmas Eve - this is our tradition.
In my home my mom always made Pierogi, and I often helped her, because making dumplings takes a lot of time and work. The Pierogi are made from unleavened dough traditionally stuffed with sauerkraut, ground meat, mashrooms and potato with cheese - populary called "Pierogi Ruskie".
The gough which is made simply by mixing flour and warm water, is rolled flat and then cut into circles using a cup. The filling is placed in the middle and the dough folder over to form a haf circle and kneaded their edgnes.
The Pierogi are boiled until they float, drained, and sometimes fried or baked in butter before serving. They can be served with sour cream or garnished with small pieces of fried bacon and onions. As dessert, varieties with fruit filling or sweet cheese may be topped with sour cream and sprinkled with sugar. These sweet Pierogi are very popular for children and are simply delicious - YUMMY. These are my favorite Pierogi. I really like to eat them, but I don't like to make them.
